Kindergarteners love working together in creative ways in Library!

2nd graders learned how to create a tableau to tell a story in drama. A tableau is a silent and frozen dramatic scene. They used common fairytales as their inspiration. Can you guess which fairytales?

Tonight is the artist reception for: Through Their Eyes: Children's Art in Times of War and Peace
This event will take place at The Washington Pavilion from 6-8pm.
Last year all EFA+ contributed two pieces for this project. Visual artist, Eyob Mergia used the pieces to develop and create the exhibit. Due to space constraints, not all pieces were able to be displayed, but all pieces contributed to the inspiration and heart of the completed exhibit. It will be on display through January.

This week we kicked off the EFA+ Fun Run! This is our annual fundraiser to support our A+ program.
If you haven't signed your child up, you may do so at:
https://mybooster.com
Your child will get a prize just for signing up!
As a school we are working towards a fundraising goal, and if we meet that goal, we will get to turn Mr. Mees into a "human sundae".

Our quarter one EFA+ & Oh My Cupcakes design is: Cloud Cup by Ela!
Cloud Cup is a vanilla bean cupcake, topped with blue buttercream, blue and purple sugar, and blue and purple sprinkles!
This delightful (and beautiful) treat will soon be available at Oh My Cupcakes!
Stay tuned for dates and details.

One of 501’s favorite ways to practice their spelling words is by using the Boogie boards. These LCD tablets make writing “bright,” just like these great spellers!

4th graders are building sky scrapers in Art Integration to create "Array City"!
The windows of the sky scrapers will demonstrate their understanding of multiplication by creating an array.
Stay tuned for the finished city in a few weeks!

On Friday, EFA+ students made their first visit of the year to IronFox Farm.
It was a beautiful day to harvest what had been planted last spring.
We continue to be grateful for this special partnership which allows our students to engage in meaningful Nature Smart learning.

Last spring EFA+ students created pieces of art for a show at the Washington Pavilion.
Visual artist Eyob Mergia used selections of the work our students contributed to create the exhibit, Through Their Eyes: Children's Art in Times of War and Peace.
The exhibit will be on display through January.
There will be an Artist Reception on Friday, September 26th from 6-8pm. We hope you can join us for this special event.
(Please note the date change, originally the reception was planned for September 22nd)

Nurse Kari visited the kindergarteners to help them learn the proper way to wash their hands while at school.

K01 has been using lines and curves to form pictures and letters as part of their handwriting practice.

4th graders are learning all about playing Tubano Drums in music.

Kindergarteners practiced creating lines in Art using "magic" water paper.
This paper allows artists to paint with water and then the lines slowly disappear. It's perfect for practice!

Kindergarteners practiced team building in Physical Education.

Reminder of our first EFA+ PTA meeting tonight!

5th graders are exploring guided spelling with some hands on fun!

The school year is off to a great start and students are learning the routines of their classroom.
Students in 102 start their day with "Morning Tubs"--these are hands on STEM activities that help them get ready for a day of learning!

We are excited to welcome students back for a new week of learning at EFA+! Thank you to this group of greeters for helping students find their classrooms at drop off. They will be ready to assist again tomorrow morning.
