2nd graders read the book "A Spoonful of Frogs" in the library. Then they tried their best to get little frogs to "jump" into mini cauldrons. They practiced working together, estimating distance, and making adjustments to find success.
Veterans from the VFW visited 4th graders share about the American flag and the symbolism of the different parts of the flag.
2nd graders worked with visiting Artist in Residence, Lawrence Diggs, while using visualizing strategies and observation techniques with visual art. They then made their own art pieces with overlays to tell a story.
Students in K01 did a pumpkin investigation to answer:
Do pumpkins sink or float?
What is inside a pumpkin?
Using analogous color schemes, fifth graders created arrays inspired by Wassily Kandinsky’s “Color Study. Squares With Concentric Circles” and Carl Strommen’s “Like an Eagle.” Students identified fractions and equivalent fractions using their arrays.
Volcanoes, moldy food, and ferrets, oh my! The EFA+ Science Fair is happening on Friday, November 7, and we’d love to see you there. 5th graders gave and received feedback on their personal narrative drafts by using a Pair Conferencing strategy. During the process, these writers also take on the role of editor, helping to make their partner’s work better.
Our quarter 2 cupcake is:
Lava Supreme by Aurelie
This is a red velvet cupcake, topped with vanilla buttercream, crushed Oreos, white chocolate curls, and red sprinkles.
It will be available for sale the evening of the 2nd grade vocal music concert at EFA+.
It will also be available at both Oh My Cupcakes locations the week of December 1st-5th.
Today we had MI Exchange! Students met with the MI Family groups and learned about Eugene Field...the poet!
They listened to a reading of Wynken, Blynken, and Nod by Eugene Field. While listening they used their visualizing skills. Then they made an artist trading card to show what they visualized.
5th graders work together in Dance to create choreography to the song, Goo Goo Muck.

🐠This integrated cross-curricular learning experience will allow EVERY 3rd grader to experience preparing for and performing in a musical.
🐡In Music and Drama they are learning the songs, lines, and blocking.
🐟In Art they are creating set pieces and costumes.
🐠In Dance they are learning choreography.
🐡In their 3rd grade classrooms they are reading scripts during independent reading time.

The EFA+ 5th graders participated in "Paint the Plow"!
Our plow was designed in honor of our 25th year of A+. The designer was Nora from 503.
5th graders worked on painting the plow after school.
You can view all the painted plows and vote for your favorite at the Paint the Plow event on October 11th at the Great Plains Zoo from 9am-3pm.
