Saturday's snow has us thinking ahead to winter weather. Is your family prepared for the possibility of Late Starts or Remote Learning Days? This week, we'll highlight everything you need to know to prepare for changes in the school day caused by weather.

Part of our EFA+ team traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina to attend the Fall A+ Conference. This was a great opportunity to connect and learn with other A+ schools.
In Art Integration, 4th graders learned about Wassily Kandinsky's Concentric Circles....which happens to be an array!
Then they worked in Kagan Cooperative Learning Groups to create their own. Each group was given a product, they found the factor pairs for that product, and then chose the factor pair to create an array that would best fit their paper. They used paper squares to build the array.
They learned about complementary and analogous color schemes and chose one to inspire their concentric circles on their array.
After the work was completed, it was put on display in R3 Gallery. Then students worked with a partner to view the work and identify; the array, the product, the possible factor pairs, and the color scheme.
After checking out books in the library, students chose to read quietly or build with Keva planks.

Second graders made tableaus (frozen pictures) to help retell The Three Little Pigs.
Students worked together to create tableaus about the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
Fifth graders have started their fiction writing unit and have enjoyed writing spooky October stories by candlelight.
While the older students are working hard on their first PACER endurance running test the kindergarteners ran their first relay race!
They collected Fall “P.E. candy”, sorted the colors with their team, and we decided which team at the most of each color.
103 is created camouflage models. Students used a white piece of paper and had to add color and details to camouflage the paper into the photo. This demonstrates how animals and other living things camouflage themselves to survive and hide from predators.
Students from 2nd and 3rd grade created tableaus in drama to learn about visualization, understanding key details in stories or text, and summarizing; all of which are part of their English Language Arts standards.
