3rd grade students continue to work at IronFox Farm. At school they are caring for soil blocks. At the farm they tilled, planted potatoes and beans, and decorated signs.

The 2nd graders have been working on designing cupcakes all year!
In September they designed cupcakes by drawing, and choosing flavors.
Then Oh My Cupcakes chose 4 student designed cupcakes to produce and sell in their cupcake shops.
In January each 2nd grade class got to visit Oh My Cupcakes for a bakery tour.
For a culminating project, each 2nd grader took their cupcake design drawing and turned it into a 3D sculpture of their cupcake. They used model magic clay, and lots of creativity!
A 2nd grade reading group is reading about Helen Keller. They were given the opportunity to work with a braille board and create their own names.
Spring is here and our students are using their Nature Smart skills for planting season.
Today the 3rd graders met with IronFox Farm to learn about soil blocking.
Soon they will help prepare the farm and plant their start plants.
The spotlight is ready and Santa’s helpers have been hard at work! Reading and understanding informational texts and timelines is an important standard in 5th grade. One student brought in a 15 foot timeline of world history to enjoy with their class.
3rd graders took their ball handling skills to the next level in P.E. by moving on scooters!
This week in Art Integration, 5th graders are learning about Michelangelo as part of their study of the Italian Renaissance.
Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling in fresco between 1508 and 1512...mostly while positioned flat on his back.
Completing a work of this magnitude, under such difficult circumstances took grit and determination.
The 5th graders got to experience it on a small scale today by painting on a paper taped to the bottom side of the art room tables.
Kindergarteners have been learning about weather.
In Art Integration, they used their Art Smarts and Nature Smarts to create a Weather Mobile.
2nd graders visited The Outdoor Campus this afternoon. They had a picnic, and got to experience Nature Smart learning!
EFA+ 4th and 5th graders have started painting on canvas in Art!
Because of a generous donation to the Sioux Falls Education Foundation by the Winker family, art teachers were able to apply for grants to enhance their program.
The funds awarded to EFA+ were used to buy canvases, easels, paints, and brushes.
Last minute preparations are under way! The Sweet Arts Dance starts at 6:00pm!
