Tonight was the 2nd Annual HeART of the City Art Show!
This show features art made out of snack wrappers and found objects inspired by LOVE.
The EFA+ 2nd and 3rd grade classes entered collaborative pieces out of found objects.
2nd grade made a low relief mosaic out of cardboard. Each student made a piece of the project and painted their piece using a color they love.
3rd grade used discarded CDs (remember those?) that were painted black, then used for engraving. The students engraved "doodles" about things they love.
A fun bonus for the evening was that the piece created by 2nd grade won "People's Choice"! Some of our 2nd grade friends were able to be there to celebrate.
Here are the "winners" of our 2nd SmARTy award drawing!
These students won a certificate to 605 Ninja.
The 3rd and final SmARTy award drawing will happen on January 15th.

501 spent time “Speed Dating” a variety of books, and got to decided which new book they wanted to bring home. The goal was to promotes some quality reading time over break.
We topped off our day of celebrations by celebrating through song (and dance) with our all school sing-along!

Today we had our first Multiple Intelligences Day: "Celebrations"!
Presenters from our community joined us to share many ways that they celebrate. Students learned, created, danced, played, and celebrated.
It's almost winter break and the kindergarteners are enjoying the snow!

4th graders made Keva plank structures and creations as part of their STEAM based learning in the library.
Congratulations, Isaiah! He broke the 2nd grade 20 meter Pacer record.

Students in 303 used Math Smarts, People Smarts, and a cooperative structure called “Rally Coach” to practice their story problems.
Students in K02 learned about measuring and coding with Beebots in Library.
Students in Dance are participating in Pound.
Pound helps students bring out their inner rockstar through exercise.

3rd graders created a Dash Robot with Launcher in Library. They constructed a freestanding hoop or structure and then attempted to successfully launch a ball through or into their structure.
